The Course

The Innovation Process: Design Thinking

The Innovation Process: Design Thinking course as part of the LEAD Certificate, is an experiential, project-based course where learners work in teams to apply the concepts of design thinking and hypothesis-driven startup (also known as lean startup) to design and test new business concepts that address real-world customer needs. This course covers the following key topics:

  • Forming an effective team
  • Identifying unmet customer needs
  • Human-centered design
  • Ideation
  • Interviewing and empathy-building techniques
  • Prototyping

The content is designed to meet the specific needs of the intrapreneur: the entrepreneurial corporate executive who aspires to develop new products, services, or processes that address unmet user needs. The goal is to find common ground between the goals of the organization and the needs of the user, whether the user is external to the organization (a customer, supplier, or a partner) or internal (an employee).

This LEAD Preview course will feature one module from the full Innovation Process: Design Thinking course.
